R2R December Athlete Profile: Brittney Kinsey
December 9, 2015
When did you join R2R?
I joined in June of 2015.
Why did you join R2R?
I was tired of hearing my parents (Chris and Marsha Kinsey) saying they could lift more then me. Plus at the time I was already active in a gym and into weight loss. With my competitive nature and the encouragement my parents found at SCCF it seemed like cross fit was a better fit for me.
What changes in your health, physique and overall performance have you seen since starting at SCCF?
I have had lost several inches and weight thanks to CF and the 24-day Advocare challenge. With lots of help and encouragement, I have gone from being afraid to lift and only participating in cardio activities; to not being afraid to lift weights. Thanks to the wonderful coaches at SCCF, there isn’t a move that I wouldn’t fill comfortable at least trying.
What advice would you give to someone in regards to starting CrossFit?
Don’t be afraid of the workout. No matter how hard it seems, every workout is do able. Your appearance doesn’t matter! Its better to ask a question, then to not ask and not know and hurt yourself.
Favorite WOD?
Annie, Cindy, Diane, and most bootcamp workouts.
Favorite activity outside R2R?
Anything to do with Shopping!
Proudest accomplishment at R2R?
Dragging my best friend, Hillary, to CrossFit and making her a cross fit addict too!
Favorite healthy meal?
Grilled chicken, rice and broccoli.
Something that people would be surprised to know about you?
I have a rare shoulder disorder. Called snapping scapula syndrome, and I have winging scapula. Which often adds additional challenges in the gym.
Who/what inspires me the most?
I am most inspired by my family. They are always encouraging me to be and do my best. They a push me to do bigger and better things and are my number one supporters.
